Scholr lets you track where each supervisor relationship stands — from first email sent through to active conversation. Here's how to use it.

Status options

  • Not contacted — saved but no email sent yet
  • Email sent — initial email sent, awaiting reply
  • Replied — professor has responded
  • In conversation — ongoing exchange or scheduled call
  • Not interested — professor declined or position not available

Updating status

Open the supervisor from your saved list and update the status using the dropdown. Update it as soon as you take an action — keeping the status current is what makes the list useful for managing multiple outreach threads simultaneously.

Filtering by status

Use the status filter on the Professors page to view only supervisors in a specific stage. This is useful at the start of each week: filter to "Email sent" to see who you're waiting on, and filter to "Replied" to see who needs a response from you.

When to follow up

If a supervisor is in "Email sent" status for more than 10–14 days, send a single follow-up email. Keep it to two sentences. If there's still no reply after the follow-up, mark the status as "Not interested" and move on. Do not send more than two emails total without a reply.
