Your profile is the foundation of everything in Scholr — it powers supervisor matching, AI document generation, and outreach email personalisation. The more complete it is, the better your results.
Getting to your profile
Click Profile in the left sidebar. The profile page is divided into sections: Academic background, Research interests, Test scores, Publications, and Experience.
Academic background
Add each institution where you've studied. For each, include the degree type, field of study, start and end dates (or mark it as current), and your GPA if applicable. Scholr uses this to surface supervisors who accept students from your background and degree level.
Research interests
Add keywords that describe your research focus — these are used directly in supervisor matching. Be specific: "computational neuroscience" or "natural language processing" will return better matches than "computer science." You can add up to ten keywords.
Target degree
Select whether you are applying for an MSc, PhD, or postdoctoral position. This affects which supervisors are shown in search results and how your outreach emails are framed.
Test scores
Add standardised test results (GRE, TOEFL, IELTS) if applicable. These are optional but are referenced when generating application documents and are visible in your profile summary.
Publications and experience
List any peer-reviewed papers, preprints, or conference papers. Include a URL if available. Publications are surfaced prominently in AI-generated documents and outreach emails as evidence of research capability.
For experience, add your years of research experience — this is used in matching to ensure supervisor expectations align with your background.
Profile completion
The dashboard shows a profile completion percentage. A profile above 70% produces significantly better supervisor matches. You don't need to complete everything at once — Scholr saves incrementally as you fill in each section.
