Each program you're applying to gets its own application entry in Scholr, where you can track status, deadlines, and associated documents.

Adding an application

Go to Applications in the sidebar and click New application. You'll be asked for:

  • University — the institution name
  • Department — the specific department or graduate program
  • Degree type — MSc, PhD, or postdoc
  • Deadline — the application submission deadline. This is what drives the countdown on the dashboard — always add a deadline.
  • Status — start as "Drafting" and update as the application progresses

Adding target professors

Within an application, you can link target professors from your saved supervisor list. This keeps the application and your outreach efforts connected — you'll see the outreach status for each professor alongside the application status.

Status options

Application status tracks the lifecycle from preparation to outcome: Drafting → Submitted → Interviewing → Offer / Rejected. Update it as things progress. The status affects how the application is displayed on the dashboard.

Notes

Each application has a free-text notes field for program-specific requirements, portal login details, or reminders. This is private — only you can see it.
